Ch. 23 Outline finished...

Hi everyone:

I want to start out by saying how much I love you all.  I think the LJ conversations are becoming my favorite way to discuss this story!  I can completely understand why some of you post here exclusively (instead of 5 different places like I am.... sigh...)

I received back my Ch. 23 outline with copious notes from one of my betas (thank you again, betty, if you're out there!)  I won't have time to start any writing until Friday most likely.

But you all can expect some major tension from this conversation between Lois and Richard.  It's bad enough when you have a break-up because of a third party... but then we have a child, a secret identity, and an office romance all in there.  That doesn't even cover everything that will likely come out in this conversation!!

So.  Hang on to your hats and your tissue boxes, people...

Sorry I haven't commented on the last few updates, but I've got a massive cold thanks to the convention I went to last week. I am however waiting with great anticipation for the next installment! ^_^

It sounds like you had fun at that convention, by the way... all the costumes! Whew!

I'm glad you're back now, though. :)

Oh, that's great that you've got things figured out. I'm intrigued by your description of your writing process -- you send your outlines as well as finished sections to betas? That sounds smart -- I've never written long plotty things with the help of a beta and this approach might help me work through what I'm trying to come up with for my own fic.

Anyway, looking forward to the next installment!

Yes, I discuss my outline with one of my betas, sometimes two. I can't say I've always done that, but I have since my initial post-Spider-Man 2 trilogy I wrote a year ago (which was shorter than Deja Vu in its entirety!)

I write 1-2 pages, and then she sends commentary about each part, sometimes each sentence! Often the commentary includes thoughts and information for much later in the story, too. She's been in on the original overarching memory-regaining plotline, and also has been essential in helping me develop the sub-plot from a vague idea to a detailed mystery.

We are actually on our third round of emails about the outline already... lengthy emails... The whole Richard 'will he or won't he discover/be told the secret' is a huge can of worms to deal with, and we have been batting around ideas since at least Ch. 8. But now that the moment of truth is on us, we are refreshing the whole thing.

I find it extremely helpful - if you can find someone who will take the time, I highly recommend it.

Between you and Barbara, I don't know who is the worst tease! XD

I will try to wait patiently....but I will way nevertheless, even if unpatiently! ;)

Um... I am Barbara, so I'm very confused right now... ???

But I hope you enjoy it when it's finished!

*hits desk with her head*

Sorry, I meant Bisty...You and her are teasers when it comes to your SR fics! ;)

I was still sleeping this morning - mom waked me up and I got on the computer since I couldn't sleep...Besides, I was slightly dazed after seeing the trailer for the Christopher Reeves Superman Collecting here. Especially the ending with scenes from the Richard Donner Cut! ;)

SORRY, again!

S'okay m'dear!
Sep. 7th, 2006 05:36 pm (UTC)
*Wrings hands* Ooh, I'm looking forward to this, but yeah, it won't be pleasant. Sometimes, unpleasant conversations are necessary, though.
Sep. 7th, 2006 05:38 pm (UTC)
Exactly. Painful but necessary is probably a good summary for the chapter! *files away for later...*

I'm glad the outline is finished! I can't wait to read it... I was almost ALMOST going to suggest that you write a few chapters and then post them all together, but then I realized I was going to miss your fic too much in the time that took you to write them :(

So... if Richie finds out he's gonna be majorly pissed (I think) I just hope that he keeps Clarkie's secret... secret.

And I totally agree 100% with the "office romance" thing, even though it's L&C and it's written in the stars, fate, destiny, divine intervention... blah blah blah... there's gonna be some pretty upset people with their new relationship (namely Perry and to some extent my beloved Jimmy) plus there's the office gossip and the chance that it might reach Jason's ears... guess mommy won't be bringing him to work anymore and that would KILL ME cuz where else is he gonna see Clarkie?

And I'm rambling.

Sep. 7th, 2006 07:18 pm (UTC)
Well... Richard is going to be pissed... but...

I can't reveal anything now - but the 'will he or won't he' question takes more than a few chapters to resolve. So, we'll see how it all goes.

And the office romance thing is huge, I agree. But Jason will probably still get to see Mister Clark! After all, his mommy's still seeing him outside of work, now, right? ;)

But you all can expect some major tension from this conversation between Lois and Richard.

Do I see someone getting a cup of raspberry latte dumped over her head?? *bites nails*

I'm quite anxious to read how this conversation plays out, actually. Richard is going to be so pissed...and hurt...and pissed! (Oh, I said that once already, huh?!) But I really feel for the guy. I mean, I completely pull for Lois and Clark -- but poor Richard, getting the shaft. :( *hugs him* Your heart just has to go out to him because he really is such a good guy. He's just not THE guy.
Sep. 8th, 2006 01:44 am (UTC)
Hmm. How DO you get raspberry latte out of your hair... and she only had one change of clothes in the trunk. She'd have to ask for a little super-delivery service later.

Yes, Richard is such a good guy. That's why I hope, in his anger, he will still be sympathetic. That you all will see his point, even as you ship for Clark and Lois. *hugs him too*

*bites fingernais then wrings hands*

I'm very excited to read this chapter! I just know it's going to be awsome! I love the emotional stuff and this is going to be raw, I just know it!

I agree w/ Bisty ... poor Richard! But it's got to happen!

Really looking forward to seeing the wringer you're gonna put your characters through!
Sep. 8th, 2006 01:46 am (UTC)
'Raw' is the word my beta kept using. She wants lots of raw emotion here. And Lois will be struggling with how much to say even as he rakes her over the coals!
Sep. 8th, 2006 01:50 am (UTC)
OOoooohhhh ... you're making me quiver with anticipation!!
Sep. 8th, 2006 01:57 am (UTC)
Ohhh, who else is terrified? This is going to be a slaying, I know it!! EEEEK!
Sep. 8th, 2006 01:59 am (UTC)
I think most people will watch with morbid fascination... ;)

Ch. 23 Outline
Good to hear. I'm eager to see what happens between Lois and Richard and how she'll explain things to him. It won't be easy for Lois but it's something that she has to do before things get even more complicated.

Re: Ch. 23 Outline
Yes, Lois definitely has a lot to explain! But how much to tell? Always the difficulty!
