I return to the f-list once more

A few more Dead Brown Bunny Challenges... it's the gift that keeps on giving, I tell ya. :D

And I haven't been around much this weekend because of that book (I just finished it a little while ago), and tons of shopping. Which included this dandy purchase:

It's not a hybrid, as we originally thought, but it's a Honda Fit, which is as close as you can get economy-wise. And $5K cheaper.

What an adorable little Muggle car! :D

Isn't it? And we only had to drive 45 minutes to get it! (None of the dealers had one in stock).

Totally, right? And it feels like a much bigger car inside actually, lots of headroom. :)

You're the second person on my flist to get a Fit this weekend! Welcome to the Honda clan. I have a CR-V but I must admit I do love the Fit, it's so cute. I just can't be that low to the ground, heh.

Oo, isn't that a fun coincidence! Luckily I had DH along, or the 5 1/2 hours it took to find, finance and drive off with the thing might have been boring... :D

We have a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid... so we're happily part of the family already.

What exactly are the Firefly folk doing in that icon? *tilts head but gets dizzy*

Yeah thankfully when I went it was with my dad who sold cars for like 8 years. It went very quickly. ^_^

Aha, then you're ahead of me. I've only been in the family since I got mine in 05. I love it though.

It's from the mule chase scene in Serenity. Where they quickly turn around and everyone slides all over the place. Hehe. It's the only "car" icon I have.

That is a really cute car. I guess you like Honda's, eh? (I read the other comments.) So, should I be looking for a Honda, then?

We're BIG Honda fans around here. Our last three new cars have been Hondas. I highly recommend them. :)

Are they really easy to take care of?

Honestly, my Dodge Intrepid is dead in our driveway at the moment, and if I get hired as a band director, I will have to get a new car. I've thought about a lot of cars (hybrids are at the top of my list), but haven't started looking yet.

Any detailed recs would be welcome.

Well, my hybrid has only needed the basic maintenance of oil changes and the like (only drawback is they have to be done at the dealer, b/c the little places don't have the equipment).

They are more expensive and usually need to be pre-ordered... but I love my Civic Hybrid. The Fit (the new one we got) is sometimes hard to get, too, because it's very highly rated by Consumer Reports. We drove 45 minutes and had to hold it with a credit card number to make sure it wasn't sold before we could grab it. They are popular. :)

If you can manage to snag a Toyota Prius or a Honda Civic Hybrid, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Lovely rec. Thank you for taking the time to tell me about them.

Berea had a Toyota Prius Hybrid in their Motor Pool. It drove like a dream. I loved driving it and watching the MPG go through the roof on the interstate. :D

Cute car! And it looks like a nice day in your neighbourhood too, wish I could say the same, rain rain rain!

Yeah, every time I look at that picture I think, wow! What a beautiful day! And such green lawns, too. :D

I know! Totally shiny. And thanks! Todd keeps hinting that I'd better not take it over, since we got it for him. (The tendency has been for me to get all the new shiny stuff, and for him to get the hand-me-downs..!)

Ah! I love it!
I also want you to know that this car is amazing when it comes to transporting stuff-- one of my co-workers has it and I swear to God the amount of stuff she can fit in it boggles the mind. The Honda Fit is a miracle car.

Oh, that's good to know. As Todd was wrangling the car seat out of my car, the salesman mentioned that the Fit supposedly has as much room as a mini-van... Not sure about that, but we'll see. Picking up my mom from the airport for her summer visit, so it'll get its first test!

Oh, God! I'm really showing my age now. It reminds me of my very first car -- it was a RED Ford pinto. I loved that car. I crashed it after 2 months! My parents were so understanding, they were just glad I was OK.

Anyway your car is adorable. What's the size of the engine of that teeny-tiny thing?! lol..

LOL! My first car was a huge 1970 stationwagon. We nicknamed it the "dreamtank". And I wrecked it within months, too! :D Poor hatchback I hit didn't know what was coming. Thank God no one was hurt.

I have no idea how big the engine is, but we're all about the fuel economy. It can accelerate better than my hybrid, though, so it's no slouch!

Ha! A stationwagon? I was hit by a stationwagon way back when. I think they were the only cars on the road, like now with all the SUVs. My little Pinto didn't stand a chance. I still miss my little horsey! lol.

Congratulations! It's a very pretty car, and lots of head-room? Good to hear, I'm 5'11'' so I'd need it ;)

Thanks! And I think it's even prettier than my picture makes it out to be. Ours has a cute little spoiler on the back, and it's tall, taller than my Civic by several inches.

If you test one out, you'll see what I mean. It feels like you're in a much bigger car, oddly enough.

A nice car, Todd talked to me about it yesterday. Of course, $ always has a way of influencing any type of purchase.

Talk to you, whenever.

Well, we thought we were going to the zoo today, but that fell through... so I'm around!

It is a nice car. It's about time that Todd got a decent one again. :)

Hey cute car! And I LOVE the color!

Yeah, that book is about to be all I'm doing. Wonder of wonders I haven't even started it yet, and I got it Saturday.

The horse took over my weekend. *Snerfle*

Thanks! It was the only one they had, actually - we usually go for blue or green... :D

Yay for horsie! My mom will be jealous. :)
