Well, I spent pretty much all day reading my new Spider-Man 3 novelization... and I finished at about 10pm last night. My reaction? (Spoiler-free)

(Did you really expect anything else?)

But OH! The ANGST! The DRAMA! The ACTION! The funny winking comments by Peter David to the comics fans! (stuff no one but the fanboys and fangirls would get). And it was JAM-PACKED with story! I really wonder how they're going to get all of that into the movie. It's definitely going to be interesting to see what's actually there, as opposed to what has been filled out and expanded for the novelization.

But, alas, as a result, there will be no update of Enquiring Minds, part 9 until later. And I skipped Crackville to read. Oh, and if you're waiting for the Super!Beta... (as about 3 of you are!) ...I'll do it tonight or tomorrow. Email me if you have a time-crunch, and I'll try to squeeze it in.

But seriously, ♥

ETA: Oh, and the FINAL TRAILER is now live!! (Cue Barbara slack-jawed and comparing every moment to the book!)

I knew you were going to be up all night reading it. ; )

Seriously, though - glad you enjoyed...

Well, I crashed hard at 11pm, but that was AFTER I finished. Hee. :D If I hadn't, I would have stayed up as late as necessary!

Ooh, now I'm all tempted to go look for a copy! *big grin* We have a inservice day at school today, so maybe (if I'm lucky) we'll get out early and I can hit a couple stores.

I ♥ angst!
I ♥ drama!
I ♥ action!

Oo, I hope you find it! And if not... you could always read Enquiring Minds... and then buy the novelization on Tuesday! ;)

While I'm not a fan of Spiderman, Peter David is an awesome writer, so funny! I've read a lot of the Star Trek books he's written. He's done some great stories.

You didn't miss much with SMallville.

Yeah, I LOVE his writing! I think he's a much better novelist than comics writer, although he has a very good reputation among a lot of Marvel fans.

That good, huh? Nice. I think I'm going to wait to read it until after the movie. The only time I've read the novelization first was for SR and I definitely think I enjoyed the movie less because of it.

OK, but can I ask one question? Who was the fourth villain. Did they give that away?
Mar. 23rd, 2007 03:15 pm (UTC)
I don't think anything was left out of this novel. I mean, MAYBE a few details (one thing in particular), but the other Spider-Man novels have been very faithful to the movies - and David wrote those, too.

I would definitely get this after you see the movie! It's probably a good thing you won't be able to join us for the movie, because jenn_1 and I will be thoroughly spoiled!

Oh! I forgot to say... the fourth villain. It's pretty much what I expected - Peter himself. He goes a little wacko for a few scenes.

So: New Goblin, Sandman, Venom, and Evil Peter.

And the final battle scene is going to be a trip, I can tell you!

You spoiler ho! ;) I can't believe you read it and you know what's going to happen already!! As for me, I sticking to remaining blissfully clueless. :P

But I'm glad it's SQUEE-able!! *happyWeissdance* Can't wait for the movie!!
Mar. 23rd, 2007 02:35 pm (UTC)
I did the same thing for Superman Returns! And I think I enjoyed it more - knowing the thoughts and motivations of the characters (which is often difficult to show in a movie). And Peter David really is a great novelist. :)

I hope the movie is as wonderful as it promises to be! I'm sure I'll like it regardless.

I'm still reading the book, where in the world did you find time to read it already? I got busy with other thigns yesterday as you well know.

I wasn't able to see the trailer. I clicked on it and everything, but can't view it. (Jenn cries) No fair!

I basically read constantly during every break I had. But I am a speed-reader anyway.

Did you try the version on Mark's LJ? He has a small version as well as a link to the full one.

GAAAAH, I wanna ask you a bunch of questions about the story!

sdjf;lasjkdf;laskjf;jsdf;j that trailer is AMAZING. I cannot WAIT for this movie, omg.
Mar. 23rd, 2007 04:11 pm (UTC)
Well, if I can find a way to do it without spoiling my whole f-list, I'd be happy to answer ANY questions. I was hoping that reading the book would make the wait more bearable... but now I think I'm even more excited and antsy!

LOL, no, they're v. spoilery questions.
Mar. 24th, 2007 11:28 am (UTC)
Well, I just about ruined the movie on IM with rogue_lane last night... so there's always that or email if you can't stand it anymore. ;)
Mar. 23rd, 2007 07:18 pm (UTC)
So, good stuff happens? ;-) I feel a little more confident now with you so happy!
Mar. 23rd, 2007 07:27 pm (UTC)
Oh, the book was awesome! I felt like Peter's flirtation with the darkness was very believable, and his and MJ's problems, as hard as they were to read about, were also well-done.

The ending is bittersweet - but satisfying (and canon! - yay!) - I can't say more without spoiling. :)
Mar. 24th, 2007 02:53 am (UTC)
Oh you better be on Yahoo, the spoiler whore in me has awoken and I can't find the e-book ANYWHERE *cries*

Mar. 24th, 2007 11:29 am (UTC)
Well, I hope both you and your mother are resting a little easier today, after all the secrets I spilled! ;D
