anissa7118's fanfic meme

Here is a meme created by anissa7118 for all those fanfic authors out there! My answers are below the cut.

1) What's your favorite fanfic 'verse to write in?
2) And your favorite 'verse to read?
3) Among published authors, whom do you admire most?
4) Which fanfic author do you admire the most?
5) Who's your favorite character to write?
6) Whom do you hate writing?
7) Which character is the easiest to write (might not be the same as 5)?
8) And which is the most difficult to write?
9) What's the longest story (or epic poem, if you swing that way) you've ever written? And its word or page count, please.
10) What's the word or page count of the shortest story you've ever written? What was it about?
11) Have you ever gotten anything published? If not, do you ever plan (hope, dream, pray) to be published?

Your job is to comment, and then post this meme in your own journals, for other authors to answer!

My answers:
1) What's your favorite fanfic 'verse to write in?
--Spider-Man all the way. There seem to be so many more different ideas to choose from!

2) And your favorite 'verse to read?
--Right now it's Lois and Clark:TNAOS, but I've gone through jags of Spider-Man, Smallville and Superman Returns (of course)

3) Among published authors, whom do you admire most?
--This is hard, since there are so many! But Neal Stephenson comes to mind immediately. He can write anything! His books are so intricate, intelligent, well-researched and exciting.

4) Which fanfic author do you admire the most?
--I will choose people outside my "circle" for this, since I don't want to play favorites! Max Landis (Spider-Man), Tandrelmairon (Superman Returns), Sunrei (Smallville), elspethdixon (Marvel Comics), and CC Aiken and Sue S. (Lois and Clark)

5) Who's your favorite character to write?
--Peter Parker - because you can do everything with him, not just emotionally, but also intricate action and injury

6) Whom do you hate writing?
--There isn't anyone in my two 'verses I hate. But if I ever wrote Smallville I think I would suck at Chloe.

7) Which character is the easiest to write (might not be the same as 5)?
--Lois Lane. She resides in my soul.

8) And which is the most difficult to write?
--The canon Spider-Man comics villains. I have never tried to do more than a couple paragraphs from their POVs.

9) What's the longest story (or epic poem, if you swing that way) you've ever written? And its word or page count, please.
--Deja Vu - 102,000 words

10) What's the word or page count of the shortest story you've ever written? What was it about?
--"Summer's End" - 1150 words. An Aunt May comicverse one-shot

11) Have you ever gotten anything published? If not, do you ever plan (hope, dream, pray) to be published?
--Nope. Would love to be, but I don't have any concrete plans to attempt it yet. (No plot, characters, etc... Maybe I should look for work writing tie-ins? lol)

since you did a meme of mine...
1) At the mo, obviously Clois of Smallville. But I used to write B/A when I was into Buffy a few years ago.

2) Clois again! I go through phases of what ship I mainly ship, if ya get me :P probably this summer I'll get another ship again, and Clois will take a backseat, along with Dramione & Buffy/Angel.

3) Louise Rennisson, her books are so funny! I was reading the first one in Newark Airport once, & I laughed so much people were looking at me like I was crazy, lol.

4) I agree, gonna keep it outside of lj. Sunrei, her fics...wow. I've a ton more, but I won't mention em...oh, also Echidna, both at DI :)

5) Lois. She's my fave character in a long time.

6) Eh...well if I have to answer this then Lana, although I've only written her like once, and that was brief.

7) Lois. I agree, she's a part of everyone :)

8) Hmm...I think I used to have problems writing Angel...I mean, he loves Buffy, but I wanted to give him more...depth? I dunno :P

9) Eh...Power Play? Yeah, I think so...7 chapters of B/A...I generally only write short stories or one-shots, my muse gets lazy & gets other fic ideas so don't get to continue em. I dunno how many words were in it, it's saved on some floppy somewhere or something...

10) I'd to write a Dramione drabble before, it's 109 words... *g*

11) Nope. And not anything in the fandom. Maybe something original? I used to write all these investigative murder stories when I was 10 or so, heh, but they've all been lost since then. & I want to journalism when I finish my Business course in college, so who knows?

Re: since you did a meme of mine...
I don't think I've ever read Echidna's fics! But I must rectify that soon.

Thanks for answering!

Re: since you did a meme of mine...
*jaw drops* omg, are you not over at Divine Intervention? Here's the link to her site:

If you don't read her fic Two, you will be punished :P

Re: since you did a meme of mine...
I am over at DI, but I haven't been reading fics for a few months. Deja Vu took so much time... but I hope to catch up again later. Maybe I'll make a point to do that soon.

Nice answers, my dear. I'll come up with mine tomorrow.

6) Whom do you hate writing?
--There isn't anyone in my two 'verses I hate. But if I ever wrote Smallville I think I would suck at Chloe.

If you ever do a Smallville fic and write Chloe, I'll help you since I seem to get her character down so well.

Well, I think if I paired her with Jimmy in a fic, it would be okay, but in general - I'm the same as taro_twist below. I think I'd make her either too much like Lois or too bland. I don't know if I could do that sunny, chipper personality with the curiosity that she has.

--There isn't anyone in my two 'verses I hate. But if I ever wrote Smallville I think I would suck at Chloe.

Ohh, Chloe does seem hard. I think I'd get her wrong, too. For me at least, I think it's because she's so similar to Lois I probably wouldn't be able to make them seem like distinct characters from each other.

7) Which character is the easiest to write (might not be the same as 5)?
--Lois Lane. She resides in my soul.

Ditto. Which is weird, because I'm nothing like Lois (she definitely does not reside in my soul, lol). And I can't say that I always do Lois's character justice, but whenever I'm writing her, everything just flows.

Ohh, and I love Tandrelmairon's work, too. It's breathtaking! I haven't had time to finish reading "Getting Eaten Alive" *mopes* but hopefully I'll be able to get some time with it over Spring Break (along with the rest of your Spidey trilogy *grin*).

I think it's because she's so similar to Lois I probably wouldn't be able to make them seem like distinct characters from each other.

That's exactly my problem. She's basically a more cheerful version of Lois. But who knows? I haven't even tried.

I'm nothing like Lois outwardly, but my internal voice is pretty much her. And as I get older, it's more and more that way. I just have a better hold on my tongue...

Seriously, finish "Getting Eaten Alive" and start on "Shatterfall"... amazing work. And my Spidey trilogy will wait anxiously for you!

Great answers. You always find such great memes. This one is definitely one of my favorites. I could go on forever about fanfic writing.

1) What's your favorite fanfic 'verse to write in?
--I have two and I can't pick one over the other just because they both have certain qualities I love. Smallville verse is so much fun to write and I get the most ideas for writing Smallville stuff. I also love writing Charmed verse even though I never posted any of my ideas. I can get into character so well and I always have a blast writing it.

2) And your favorite 'verse to read?
--LnC hands down. LnC was my first fandom so I tend to lean in that direction when reading fic. There's so many ideas in LnC fics and most of them are so unique.

3) Among published authors, whom do you admire most?
--Elswyth Thane just because I loved reading Tyrst. Any author who can create something that touches my heart in that way have my complete respect and admiration.

4) Which fanfic author do you admire the most?
--There's just so many amazing fic writers out there that I'm sure I'll miss one and feel like a complete ditz later but I'll try to list a couple off the top of my head. Cheifpam for LnC (I loved her version of Tryst), Visiongirl for Smallville (Future Tense and Gaurdian inspired me to write Smallville fic, freaking amazing!), htbthomas (YOU!) for SR. The list could go on forever though. There's such great talent.

5) Who's your favorite character to write?
--Lois for Smallville because I just love her to bits. Prue for Charmed because not only is she amazing, but she is such a tortured soul that it is such an experience to get into her head.

6) Whom do you hate writing?
-- I don't hate writing anyone but there are certain characters that I find it very difficult to channel. I don't like going into a villain's POV for Charmed.

7) Which character is the easiest to write (might not be the same as 5)?
--Lois because we think exactly alike. I can completely relate to her and it is so natural to get into her mind and soul. I also can write for Prue (Charmed) really easily because I am the perfectionist/strong one like she is. I really feel her pain. lol

8) And which is the most difficult to write?
--For Smallville I'd have to go with Lana just because she can be either a strong support system/friend to Clark or an evil bitch/PITA. For Charmed it is Phoebe just because of the way the show partrayed her after season 4. When she went from being a loving character to a man-crazed sex toy I got annoyed and started losing interest in writing from her POV.

9) What's the longest story (or epic poem, if you swing that way) you've ever written? And its word or page count, please.
--Chick Flick even though it is unfinished. It's currently 50000+ words and 89 pages on my word doc.

10) What's the word or page count of the shortest story you've ever written? What was it about?
--When I Cry - around 1700 words - about Lois' feelings and her desire to be strong and to keep her emotions hidden

11) Have you ever gotten anything published? If not, do you ever plan (hope, dream, pray) to be published?
--It is my ultimate dream. I would love to publish something. I have no idea what it would be, but I would love it. I promised my two friends a very long time ago (back when we were little and thought we'd be famous) that if I could, I'd try to publish a collaboration piece we did together as a children's book. If I could only publish one thing, that would be it just because I would have kept my promise. Cheesy, isn't it? lol

There's so many ideas in LnC fics and most of them are so unique. -- I really agree! That's a lot of what's lacking in Smallville and SR for me - the interesting situations. But I still love them all.

And thanks for the nod... I love you, too. ♥

1) What's your favorite fanfic 'verse to write in?
--Alias. I live and breathe Sydney and Vaughn.
2) And your favorite 'verse to read?
--Right now, Superman. But that's just because of DV. :P
3) Among published authors, whom do you admire most?
--Janette Oke. She's a grandmother (maybe a great-grandmother) and she still writes and publishes beautiful love stories.
4) Which fanfic author do you admire the most?
--Ooo, that's a tough one. Probably angvau57 because she writes the depth of emotion that I wish I could portray.
5) Who's your favorite character to write?
--Sydney, Alias. I just know her so well.
6) Whom do you hate writing?
--Bad guys. I never think that what I write is believable.
7) Which character is the easiest to write (might not be the same as 5)?
--Eric Weiss, Alias. His quirkiness just flows from my fingertips. :P
8) And which is the most difficult to write?
--Jack Bristow, Alias. I have as much trouble connecting with him as I did my own father.
9) What's the longest story (or epic poem, if you swing that way) you've ever written? And its word or page count, please.
--"Yadda, Yadda, Yadda" - 101,291 words
10) What's the word or page count of the shortest story you've ever written? What was it about?
--"An Angel Sleeps" First part of a 2-part angst fic that takes place during Season 3 - Sydney wonders some things about her life as Julia Thorne.
11) Have you ever gotten anything published? If not, do you ever plan (hope, dream, pray) to be published?
--No, not yet. But, yes, it has always been my dream to see my own book on store shelves! I'm slowly working on a few ideas.

Forgot that "An Angel Sleeps" was 374 words. *doh* It's sequel, "One Truth" was just a touch longer at 487 words.

What else are you reading and enjoying in the SR fandom? I could also give recs, if you want. Thanks for plugging me!!

Hmm...well, since I started with your fics, I haven't gotten to anyone else's. But, yes, I would love some recs, since I don't read as much as I used to. Thanks!

Well, let's start with my LJ friends fics - all of which are excellent (mostly WIPs):

**muggleglum - bistyboo1974's Life Belongs to the Living
**kalalanekent - Little Secrets, but I would read it on ff.net - since the LJ version isn't organized easily to get to the first chapter.
**alphielj - In the Shadow of My Father, then Being Jason White
**sean_montgomery - Underground - again, read on ff.net.
**alamo_girl80 - Veritas (also ff.net)
**mr_beeto - Home is Where the Heart Is

There are more - but this will keep you occupied quite a while. If you need more, I'm here for you!
