Yuletide Filter

I'll probably alternate between whinging and celebrating about Yuletide plenty over the next month - and to save the rest of you who just don't care...

Please let me know if you'd like to be on my Yuletide filter. I'll still post story reveals but the bulk of everything else - fic talk, recs, etc. - will be on the filter.

(And happy Thanksgiving!)

I've never understood the concept of filters. Are people incapable of not reading things that don't interest them? (By which I mean, I want to see it all! Unless I don't, which I will decide in the moment.)

They are sort of two-fold, as I understand them...

1) avoiding spamming your f-list with multiple posts about the same thing, which will only annoy those who don't care

2) making sure only a subset of your f-list can read a certain set of posts.

This is type 1, but I use type 2 when I say, want to find a beta for something I wrote as a surprise for another f-lister, or have something highly specialized and/or personal to post.

I agree, people can just not read, but I feel bad when I spam, and this helps me feel WAY less bad, as I am going to spam this filter bigtime. :)

OK, the second type, I've used those myself. But the other kind ... I don't know, maybe I'm a sociopath, but I've never worried about stuff like that.
