*cue screaming with laughter*

Here's another attempt to get the non-Community-watching portion of my f-list to CHECK OUT THIS SHOW. My favorite scene from Thursday's Dungeons and Dragons episode:

I also love this gif:

If you've ever role-played at ALL, you should watch the whole thing. Non-US people, I can hook you up, too. ;)

I have brothers, and a husband, who are SO into it. So I'm just on the fringes and adored it. ♥

It was! I can understand being upset with how Pierce was portrayed, or the bullying storyline... but not the parody! That was flawless.

I've never played 'Dungeons and Dragons,' so I was lost there for a while, and I suppose a 'serious' vibe is always in 'sweeps' episodes, but this one did not appeal to me ... the fat jokes just went on and on.

Pierce is usually tolerable every week, but he was taken way too far. All in fun huh... not really.

Sorry, I watch every week, but another subject matter could have been just as effective... bullying rubs me all wrong..

I disagree - it was very serious, yes, but the viewer is not meant to take bullying as all in fun at all. Too many stories about it are played for laughs in the wrong way, or unrealistic revenge fantasies. This story used a fantastical framing device to discuss a serious topic.

As far as Pierce, he was hateful. They are definitely setting him up for a storyline later this season, though I do have some advance knowledge. It's the "show not tell" school, and so the audience is not being given many hints about it yet. I think the next two are going to deal with it hardcore.

Though the bullying was highly uncomfortable, I thought it ended on a really hopeful note. Neil showed that he was the much better person, and gained everyone's respect (exc. Pierce), whereas all he had before was pity and ridicule.

But it's okay if you didn't like it *hugs*. I just found it brilliant on several levels, and had to share!

*hugs back* I did enjoy the clip, sorry, I had meant to mention that!

And yes, it did end in a hopeful and agreeable manner, so it did serve a purpose!

Just like last night's SV episode..! Alls well that ends well..! :D

I was going to do an LJ post on the EXACT same thing. Why are more people not watching this fantastic show?

The other scene I loved was when they were describing themselves walking and "Abed confirmed that they walked....". ROFL

And Brita fighting for gnome rights (was it gnomes or elves?). LOL

This one? (I run the YT channel *g*

IT'S SO WONDERFUL. Are you a member of our comm yet? ♥

Oh my goodness, YES. That scene cracks the living s--t out of me. It goes so well with their monikers: "Britta, the Needlessly Defiant". ROFL

There's a "Community" COMMUNITY??? Where do I sign up???

(I could just talk for hours on the beauty of "Modern Warfare" alone. I listed as the #2 episode of TV for the year 2010. The only episode that beat it out was "The Suitcase" from "Mad Men".)

Yep! I run it, so I miss no chance to pimp it.

I really enjoyed the episode! It is especially fun because I go in unspoiled each week (no previews for me in the UK!) and so it is always a surprise about the content.
Feb. 5th, 2011 11:59 pm (UTC)
Do you like being unspoiled? I am just about as spoiled as possible every week (the hazards of the job) - and we always have everything up at the comm for people who are non-US if they want to be, too.

But there are definitely shows I enjoy more if I have no advanced knowledge. :)
Feb. 6th, 2011 10:24 am (UTC)
It is always depends on the show if I want to be spoiled, and there is never any set criteria as to what decides that for me. Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Pretty Little Liars, How I Met Your Mother = love the spoilers. Community, 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy = I tend to not keep up and just go with it :)

ACK, I forgot the hiatus is over!! D: *goes to download missed episodes!*
Feb. 6th, 2011 09:49 pm (UTC)
Oh, yeah! I forgot that a lot of people wouldn't know it's back! You have just three to catch up on. :)
Feb. 6th, 2011 09:27 pm (UTC)
Oh, it's a good thing you posted this! I didn't realise it had started again! I just watched the last three episodes in a row. Frankly, I didn't care much about the first two (too over the top for my taste), but the Dungeons and Dragons one made me lol a lot. :D

I'm glad, too!

I actually adored 2.12 with Shirley's husband and Rich. But yeah, 2.13 was pretty uneven, though it had some funny stuff in it. BUT 2.14 WAS AMAZING.
