Yuletide Recs: P-S

This is a much smaller list, probably because I don't have a lot of fandoms in the second half of the alphabet. But here are a few I really enjoyed:

I already made a few Pushing Daisies recs, but I start with a few more...

Strong, Silent Types And Their Interviewing Technique
**Olive is just a force of nature, and this story (which needs love) really shows it.

Reindeer Mountain
**The overall joke in this one is worth the wait! And it had a funny yet also sweet ending.

Then the rest:

A Storybook Story (The Princess Bride)
**This fic gives the movie just a little bit more. I love it when people lampshade conventions or subvert them.

Gus Goes For the Gold Star (Psych)
**I was practically choking, I was laughing at this one so hard! So meta and yet so in character... One of my faves this year! Warning: slightly slashy at the end

Sunshowers (Psych)
**I really never thought seriously about Carlton/Juliet, but this really sells it! I love how the story is in Carlton's POV, and we can see him slowly melt into his attraction to her.

There Are No Secrets From Nabiki Tendo (Ranma 1/2)
**Nabiki was always one of my favorite Ranma 1/2 characters, and she's fantastic in this.

His Sad, Sorry Story (Scrubs)
**Classic! A story of Cox and his rival, and some great Cox/Jordan banter, too.

And now I'm ending the day at #4, though I expect to lose that spot by tomorrow morning... and ancarett is starting to creep close behind! *is not competitive at all* :D

Oh, and funny story: my mom is here to visit, and she's been reading through the archive herself, enjoying it a lot... except the poor thing accidentally stumbled onto her first NC-17 slash story. (She didn't understand what the rating and summary implied before reading). She's both laughing and shocked at the same time. "I'm never going to be able to watch that show again in the same way..." she giggled nervously. :D

Not competitive at all, oh, no?

Suuuuuure! 150 comments and counting, here!

I'm pointing my husband to a couple of carefully selected stories from the archive. He knows about slash and all but, like your mother, some of the stories would scar him if they were to deal with characters in his favourite shows in ways he's not expecting!

She read my story (and my husband's two) last year, as well as a few selected ones. But she's actually trying to crack the non-participant Top 25 this year (10 if she gets time). LOL. Genes run true.

Tell her that I wish her luck with her commenting goal!

LOL! Your mom sounds like a really cool person :D
(You know what they say about apples and trees? :))

She is really cool! I wish we lived closer, but it's nice that she can afford to visit me twice a year.

And that is so true. I only have to look at my own daughter to know that. :D

Your mom reads fic! Coolest mom ever.

She has since I introduced her to it! She's actually read the one bound copy I made of Deja Vu. I often send her links to my stories if I think she would enjoy it. :)

I think it's adorable that your mom reads fic! How awesome of her! But I can imagine that she got quite the shock at that NC-17 fic. :D

I think she only reads what I suggest to her - and mostly when she's visiting (although I have emailed her the links to my stories when I think she'd like them). But yeah, that was a bit of a shock! :D
