Teaser and a Rec
Well... after a pretty decent first week of school, I am trying to finish my August Heatwave story for [info]12days_of_clois. It'll be on the shorter side (closer to 2K than 5K), but I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Teaser, anyone?

---

That is if you really wanna know what it's about... )

---

*grin*

And now that that's out there, I will feel compelled to finish it by tonight!

And now for a fic rec:

Yesterday I beta'ed Strays by [info]professorjulia, a post-Dark Knight fic in 19 parts. The story is gen, and... well, let's just say that the ECQ got some surprises along the way! I'm pimping this because I don't think most of my friends' list knows this author (you may have read her story Sunday Fathers, though.)

The first part is up here at LJ and on ff.net.

Check it out!

Pushing Daisies rec (edited to add all Yuletide 2007 recs so far)
Okay, so I've been reading, reading, reading steadily for 6 (is it 6? I'm losing track) days in the [info]yuletide archive, and I came across one I had to rec to my fellow PD fans on the f-list:

Twice Upon a Time: A fourth-wall breaking tale in which the Narrator steps into his own story, with unusual results.

At that very moment (in the sense that the infinite encompassed all moments), the narrator was making himself a cup of tea.

I keep meaning to do a comprehensive recs post, but I am still only halfway through the fandoms I want to read!

ETA: Okay, so I took a page from several people's books, and made del.icio.us account to put the recs in. This is by no means complete, but it's a start. Good reading, kids!

Recs include: addams_family, adventures_of_pete_and_pete, arrested_development, batman_begins, batman_tas, batman_beyond, blackadder, birds_of_prey, bones, coupling_uk, flight_of_the_conchords, how_i_met_your_mother, mary_poppins, moonlight, northern_exposure, pretty_in_pink, princess_bride, pushing_daisies, runaways, scrubs, snow_crash, spider-man, twilight, wheel_of_time, wonderfalls

SR fic recs
Okay, so I don't know how many of y'all have just literally hours to sit on your butts and read fic, but I have two recs that I think you should read before voting at [info]supes_mv_awards (Voting starts Sunday!):

Kal-El's Journal by Clairecheaux -- Holy crap, this is hilarious. Prepare for serious diet-Coke-or-Frappuccino-pick-your-poison-nose-snortage while reading.

Superman: Aftermath by [info]saavikam77 -- The action in this story is edge of your seat amazing!

I had read most of the nominations that were from ff.net and LJ, but I'd completely missed out on the stuff at The Planet. Now I'm furiously trying to catch up!! So if you've missed out there, too, you owe it to yourself to check it out!

*hugs all the talented writers in this fandom, many of whom are dear friends*

Feedback poll - for testing purposes. Participate, and I'll post the results later!
Everyone, don't forget to "Watch" [info]supes_mv_awards!!  We've had 13 people nominate, but we need more.  Keep pimping the community!

A random poll just so I can test out the settings of "Open to All, Viewable to None"

Poll #1001371 Feedback Poll
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: None

How does feedback affect the way you write?

I try to incorporate as many suggestions as I can.
1 (3.2%)

If an idea appeals to me, I'll use it.
22 (71.0%)

If enough people are clamoring for something, I bend to pressure.
6 (19.4%)

I follow my own vision, no matter what.
2 (6.5%)

Feedback? What's that?
0 (0.0%)

Does the amount of feedback affect how quickly you write?

Yes, absolutely - if no one is liking my story, why should I ever write it?
3 (9.7%)

Somewhat - the Muse is slow to come out of hiding if she feels unappreciated
19 (61.3%)

It depends on what kind of feedback.
8 (25.8%)

I write my stories for me and me only. Who cares who likes it, as long as I do!
1 (3.2%)

Again, what is this feedback thing you speak of?

Fanfiction recs...
I know I've been quiet this week... when there's no current story being posted, I probably will be. But I have been pretty busy reading, and I was sucked back into the world of Lois and Clark: TNAOS by [info]ksarasara and [info]mrsmosley recently.

Lois and Clark was actually the first fandom I ever read fanfiction for, about 10 years ago (when it was still a listserv), and I have always had a soft spot for it. I was pleased to find out that the writing community is still alive and well!

So if anyone is feeling nostalgic and in the mood for some great reads (in the order I stumbled across them - all summaries mine):

L&C fic recs... )

I'm going to keep reading through these authors' stories, but does anyone have recommendations for other great L&C fic?
